LIGANOVA to Accompany Traditional Zurich Department Store Jelmoli into the Future

The experts for brand retail experiences beat out several competing agencies in vying for the account of the department store, which has been operating since 1833. Jelmoli is in a transformational phase that LIGANOVA is supporting as part of two important projects: the design of the “Kids Welt” and “Spotlite” areas.

Stuttgart, May 18, 2021 – Take a department store and inject it with more life using a strong local approach: Against the backdrop of changing customer needs and current consumer trends, this is what Jelmoli has its sights set on. The concept and idea for the tendered transformation project came from LIGANOVA, whose pitch for why it should be awarded the contract beat out those of several other agencies. The aim is to both implement a vision for the entire Jelmoli building and make both levels’ floor space certifiably fit for the future. LIGANOVA is also responsible for this implementation process and will complete the “Kids & Young Fashion” area in September and the “Spotlite” (young adults) area by the end of the year.

To be applied throughout the entire space of the traditional department store, the guiding idea behind the experience design concept is to create inspiring and surprising brand and product experiences. The focus is on integrated experiential spaces, a comprehensive omnichannel approach that skillfully combines physical and digital space, and storytelling features that are designed to continuously offer new incentives for (potentially new) customers to get immersed in the Jelmoli world. “Various experiential dimensions allow us to create a holistic journey for Jelmoli’s customers,” says Mathias Ullrich, Managing Director Experience Solutions at LIGANOVA. “We’re expanding the in-store experience to the digital realm, for example, to generate more activation opportunities.”
