Artificial Rome launches revolutionary Renault 5 Experience for Renault

After winning the pitch, the Berlin-based studio for immersive & narrative experiences has developed an immersive and interactive visualization of the all-electric city car that takes the way the product is presented to a new level.

Berlin, Germany. October 2024 – Artificial Rome, a LIGANOVA GROUP company, brings the iconic Renault 5 E-Tech 100% electric to life as an electric car in a unique virtual environment. The experience is part of a visionary project by Renault to create a state-of-the-art vehicle visualization. It allows users to fully immerse themselves in the driving experience and experience the versatility of this Renault in different environments. The solution was developed on Artificial Rome’s own Metaverse platform Soil, and is now hosted using Google Cloud’s Immersive Stream for XR, ensuring pixel-streamed visualization and availability on any device worldwide.

Exceptional design and advanced technology

The Renault 5 Virtual Viewer is not just a visual presentation, but provides an interactive and immersive environment where the user is in full control of the vehicle. The journey begins when the Renault 5 enters the stage, accompanied by on-screen instructions that guide the user on how to interact with the visualizer. The software is compatible with both desktop and mobile devices and offers full control over camera, movement and zoom as the car navigates the streets of a historic European city.

A special feature, Freeze mode, stops the car’s movement and allows the vehicle to be personalized from the color to the rims and interior.

Another highlight are the interactive hotspots within the experience. They provide a detailed insight into the car’s functions, including electric charging, the modern cockpit and the illuminated charging display. Renault fans can even take a virtual seat in the car as it drives through the surrounding area.

The environment has been carefully designed and recreated in UE5.3 by the Liganova subsidiary, with the city streets and rural surroundings both playing key roles. Historic buildings and urban elements have been accurately reproduced to ensure a realistic and immersive experience. A dynamic transition, where the camera rotates under the car, changes the scene from the city to the rural environment and shows the Renault 5’s performance on wider roads at higher speeds. The wide open spaces and grassy landscapes are a faithful recreation of the original reveal movie backdrop.

“The immersive experience makes all the important features and the driving experience almost realistically tangible,’ explains Patrik de Jong, founder of Artificial Rome. “It’s a simple-to-access yet highly-detailed way for potential customers to learn more about the vehicle and get a true feel for it.”

User-friendly design

The customized user interface design makes it possible to configure the vehicle intuitively and discover the many options of the Renault. The circular user interface makes it easy to customize the vehicle and offers space for over 200 possible combinations. In addition, the seamless integration into the Renault website makes it easy for users to continue their configuration after the virtual test drive and finalize a purchase directly.
